Collage Style Quilt

This quilt was so fun to make! A young lady who lives in Breckenridge asked me to use as many of her t-shirts as I could to make a twin sized quilt. She gave me almost 50 shirts to use! I just love making these style quilts because I get to use my creativity to balance the colors and graphics to create a one-of-a-kind keepsake.  She chose a flower pattern for the pantograph - I used my longarm to create this lovely edge-to-edge quilt pattern over the entire quilt. You can zoom in the the picture to see the detail. She was very happy with her quilt and I'm so honored to have been entrusted to make it for her!

What a venue at Breckenridge Nordic Center!

Omg, that was awesome! I have only done a handful of markets in my day but that was the best one yet! Beautiful venue, generous venue owners and hosts, Gene and Therese Dayton, friendly fellow vendors, and enthusiastic customers! AND friends and community members showed up that I hadn't expected, so that was the icing on the cake! I really get nervous doing these markets but this one was so relaxed and supportive that I actually had fun! I even sold a vintage sheet quilt and sold OUT of my lavender sachets and bowl cozies! I'll have to make more next time! Thank you so much to Therese and Gene for inviting me! :)

Another Market!

I can't say where yet, but I've been invited to be part of another market! Woohoo! It'll be on the 18th from 4:40 to 8:00 pm. I'll let everyone know the location as soon as the owner gives the OKAY! :)

I've been madly making, making, making! These are casserole carriers! Aren't they awesome!?

The first one is more for a pie, or a 9x9 Pyrex dish.

This next one is for bigger dishes, up to a size 9x13. I quilted them myself, rather than purchasing quilted fabric. It's less expensive that way, and much prettier! I just love how they are so easy to carry - no more pot luck dishes sliding around in the car on the way to your function! I made four of each of these designs, and they'll be available at the next market! You can also order them from me whenever you like! :) justsusiequilts@gmail.com or 303 931-6178

That Was Fun!

Thank you all for coming out to see us last night! I met some awesome fellow crafters and of course, Ashlie, owner of The Sunny Side Up! She is so welcoming and her store is amazing! You've got to go see it! It's chock full of really unique and fun gifts items!

I just about sold out of my crochet kitties, so will be getting busy making more! I have another commissioned t-shirt quilt to make so I'm going to be really busy before Christmas, especially because I have been invited to do ANOTHER craft fair! Woohoo!

Here's my booth set up. I had fewer than two days to get all my ducks in a row!

I really appreciate everyone who shopped with me - keppin' it local and hand made! :)

I'm so excited!

I was invited to participate in The Authentic German Christmas Market this year! I only heard about it last night so I've been running around like mad trying to get all my ducks in a row! There are quite a few ducks and I don't know that I will herd them all but I'll do my best!

I used to do weekend booth sales for my French baked goods bakery a few summers ago - I always got so nervous! It was so much work! This will be a lot of work too but happily, I have so much product that all I have to do is cart it all there, rather than waking up at 2 am to get it all baked and ready for selling! Lordy, that was hard! Very rewarding but hard!

This is the picture on The Sunny Side Up website for this event.

Come by and see me! <3

Here, kitty, kitty, kitty!

I just can't stop making these! I made three over the Thanksgiving holiday!

This one looks like one of those Sock Monkies! Heehee!

They are fairly time-consuming but they are also relaxing.

You can buy them on my website at justsusiequilts.net! :)

Vintage Sheets Quilts!

I'm so in love with Vintage Sheets Quilts! I fell in love with them about 7 years ago when I saw them popping up all over the internet on people's blogs! This was when we were living in Denver. I went out and started buying vintage sheets at every thrift store I could find! Now I have bins and bins of them! I pulled them out again yesterday and started making another one! This one will be for sale in my shop. Here it is on my design wall.
Here are some I have made in the past. Aren't they yummy? They are soooo soft and make such wonderful, nostalgic gifts! I can make a special one for you too! Message me for more info!

Mitered Corners

I love mitered corners! It really makes the binding look crisp and professionally finished. Here's me executing an almost perfect mitered corner on the Hugs and Kisses quilt I blogged about yesterday. I learned to do this from Bonnie Hunter, from Quilville.com. https://quiltville.blogspot.com/2015/06/narrower-binding-tutorial-re-cap.html  Okay, I don't do it exactly the way she does it, because I figured out some things that were easier for ME, (which I recommend, as a matter of practice in life in general! ha!), but her directions are really clear. This is a double fold binding.
You really have to hold that corner down so it doesn't slip! Here I am, turning the corner.
And taadaa! A nice clean and crisp mitered corner!

Hugs and Kisses!

I know, I know! Soooo much pink! But I over-cut for the Cotton Candy Doughnut quilt and needed to do something with the orphaned blocks! So I made a hugs and kisses series of blocks! This is my first x's and o's quilt and I love it! This pic is when it was still on my design wall. Now it's on the Monster!

This one is sashed 2" finished in Kona white and has a 3" border. It's going to be about 10" bigger than Cotton Candy Doughnuts.

I just love these cherries - they are whimsical and polka-dotty!

More Quilted Ornaments!

Okay, they aren't really "quilted", but it sure looks like it! This one is more "Chritsmasy", what with the shimmery reds and golds!
You can order these in your own color choices. Think Broncos! Or maybe purple and white! Or black tie! They are $20 each and come with a perfectly sized gift box! PM for more information!

Quilted Ornaments!

I just love these things! It looks like an elf made a little quilt on a ball!

I learned to make these quite a number of years ago, but now that I have all my fabric and supplies set up, I have rediscovered the cuteness! They aren't hard to make, just time consuming!

And I've made them in all kinds of colors! Easter, Valentine's, and Patriotic too! Which themes would YOU like to see them in?
