This is a local client - she gave me a handful of quilts to create a quilt for her daughter. When she picked up her quilt, she said she didn't realize how much she would love it; she said seeing all memories there in the quilt is so meaningful - a priceless treasure! "You did an amazing job and I know my daughter will love it!"

The client asked me to finish this quilt for her, which she started over 20 years ago! She sent me the few blocks she had started, fabric, and the pattern book. What you see here is an heirloom quilt that will be treasured by her family for many years to come! She says: "I LOVE MY quilt! It is amazing! I nearly cried when I go it". It was an honor to be able to help this client make a dream come true!

It was machine quilted in a traditional manner by shadow quilting 1/4" from the seamline.

Tracey Keating, from Awl Made Here asked me to make her a quilt. Here's what she has to say about my work!

I am so thankful and blessed to know Susie!

When my father passed away last year in November, I was emotionally devastated and lost. We had been through so much over the past year and I wasn’t ready for him to leave his earthly home. Unfortunately, we don’t get a choice in these things.

I had so many things to do and going through his clothes was the last thing on my mind. When the time finally arrived for me to fill the bags that would later go to the Salvation Army, I just sat on the bed and wept. I kept looking at all of Dad’s favorite shirts. Over the years, he had gained weight and lost weight and gained weight and lost weight. So the shirts were all different sizes and colors. He liked blues, reds, plaids, and some green. He wore manly man colors, you know, John Wayne style! I ended up throwing all of his other clothes in bags and sending them to the Salvo’s but I couldn’t part with the shirts. The damn shirts represented my father! And I wasn’t ready to let go.

After looking at the bag of shirts for months, I finally opened it and was able to sort them. It was then that I decided I wanted to make a memory quilt. My brother reminded me that Susie made quilts and had inquired about taking on the job. I gladly handled over the project. Although I wanted to tackle the job, I felt too emotionally attached. I couldn’t make any decisions and I was afraid to make a mistake. I am so glad that I made this decision. The quilt that Susie designed is perfectly my Dad! I love the colors, the textures, and the designs! Thank you Susie!
